Everton stunned Brighton & Hove Albion with a dramatic late comeback to win 3-2 at Goodison Park on Saturday. The Toffees found themselves two goals down after 60 minutes, but a Tom Davies equaliser followed by a last minute winner from Cenk Tosun ensured Everton snatched the three points.
The game got off to a fiery start, with both teams looking to impose themselves on the match. It was Brighton who took the lead in the 23rd minute, as Pascal Gross’s ball in from the right was headed in by Lewis Dunk. The Seagulls then doubled their lead on the hour mark, when Shane Duffy latched onto a long ball from goalkeeper Mat Ryan and slotted past Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal.
The Toffees responded in style, and were back in the game just seven minutes later. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s corner was met by Tom Davies, who rose highest to head the ball into the far corner. Everton then completed the comeback in the 93rd minute, when Cenk Tosun’s header from a Lucas Digne cross found the back of the net.
The victory was a crucial one for Everton, as they move up to ninth in the Premier League table. It also marks an impressive start to the season for new manager Marco Silva, who has now led the Toffees to four wins in their last six matches.
